Do you normally only take groups?

Not at all. One of the features of a catered ski chalet is meeting and mixing with new people or old ‘friends’ from previous stays, so couples and people on their own are as welcome as groups taking the whole chalet. Evening meals and many activities are undertaken together, although of course you are welcome to do your own thing if you wish. It is, after all, your holiday.

We normally like to be ‘slope-side’ when skiing. Isn’t it a hassle having to drive to the slopes every day?

It depends on what you’re used to, and if you’ve not done it before, it’s a natural question. The first time we did it, we ourselves were dubious about having to climb into a car to get to the slopes. What we found is we very soon got used it, and everyone who tries it with us quickly forgets that it was even a question. Indeed, the breakfast discussion of where to go that day and the journey together soon become a fun feature of the holiday.  Consistently we get very positive feedback about the huge variety of skiing -the short journeys really are not a problem.  Access to the huge skiing possibilities (Sainte Foy, Tignes, Val d'Isere, Les Arcs and La Rosiere) outweigh any travel concerns for all our guests.

So how does this courtesy transport work?

We have a chalet vehicle which we use to transport guests around. Whilst we have flexibility we would obviously not be able to satisfy 10 requests for different destinations at the same time! Guests usually make joint decisions on where to go that day, and for large groups, those with their own cars often offer lifts to others. Of course, this is not compulsory, and guests are free to do as they wish.

Back

Do you offer ski guiding?

No, we are not qualified or authorised guides. However, we ski virtually every day, and our guests are very welcome to join us to share our favourite runs and watering holes. We can arrange to hire a professional guide for you if you wish.

Is smoking allowed in the chalet?

For the comfort of other guests and for safety reasons (there is a lot of wood in the chalet), smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the chalet. Smoking is of course allowed outside and on the terrace. We do ask smokers to use the ashtrays provided on the terrace, as the decking is also make of wood.

Back

Can we bring young children?

We are not ideally placed for young children who need supervision and the ability to return to the chalet whenever they need. As a guide we advise a minimum age of 12 years

What about the hot water supply?

One of the most important features of an active holiday is being able to have a shower when you want to – normally at the end of the day, and normally all at the same time! When he installed our boiler, our French plumber commented "it is a monster!". We’ve done our best to ensure a never-ending supply of hot water, with various gizmos in the plumbing system, and you should be able to have a nice powerful, hot shower whenever you want. Nevertheless, we do ask guests to be considerate about sharing the hot water supply.

Back

What are the ‘en-suite’ facilities?

Every bedroom has a shower, handbasin and toilet.  There is also a separate shower room and toilet available for use by guests.

Back

How does the Hot Tub work?

The hot tub is checked for the correct water quality three times a day and the results recorded in a log book.  All necessary hygiene dosing is done during these checks.  Guests are free to use the tub at any time and we will show you the jets and bubbles controls.  Additional towels are available for hot tub users

What about people who want to arrive early before other guests have left, or use the last day before leaving in the evening?

Early arrivals are offered a complimentary breakfast. For early arrivals or late departures, you may use the separate shower room when your rooms are not available to you.

What about special diets?

We cater for both carnivores and vegetarians and people with gluten and milk allergies. However, we do ask that you advise us when booking, otherwise we cannot guarantee to be able to meet your needs.  We are not able to cater for extreme allergies such as nut allergy.

Back

Do you take bookings for long weekends, short or longer stays?

Yes we do.  More and more people want the flexibility of being able to book at short notice and for any length of time. We are geared up to cater for this flexibility, though we do have a minimum stay of three nights.  We do reserve certain busy weeks for week long bookings only.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements. It’s especially worth checking us out if you’re looking for short-notice availability.

Do you offer transfers to and from the chalet?

We can provide you with information and advice about airport transfers, though we are unable to offer airport transfers ourselves.  We can normally arrange transfers to and from Bourg St Maurice (where airport transfers arrive and depart), our local town about 20 minutes drive from the chalet. However, on Saturdays we only offer transfers BEFORE 10.00am. The reason for this is simple: Saturday is ‘transfer day’ in the valley, and the road from Bourg St Maurice is the only route to and from Ste Foy, Val d’Isere and Tignes. This means that the journey of 20 minutes can take up to several hours – literally. There is no way round it. This is one of the reasons we offer flexible bookings, so as to give our guests the flexibility to avoid the Saturday scrum.
