VAL d’ISERE
1850m-3500m (at Tignes)
Known for its challenging runs, you can ski the huge,
resort of Val d’Isere without paying its higher accommodation prices. The bottom of the world-famous
downhill run at La Daille is only a spectacular 20 minutes drive from the
chalet. Our favourite area is Le Fornet - it is high with wild
scenery and offers a great variety of skiing. Not to be missed is the
"Up-and-over" lift, a fast 6 person chair that takes you up over a ridge and
down the other side. It is the closest you get to being on a roller
coaster in the Alps!
TIGNES
1550m-3500m
 |
One of our favourite ways to start a day’s skiing is from the village of
Tignes Les Brevieres, a short 15 minute drive from the chalet. A fast six person
bubble gives us quick access into the huge Tignes ski area, which itself links
with Val d’Isere to form the ‘Espace Killy’, claimed to be the largest linked
ski area in the world. Les Brevieres itself has some lovely skiing, including wide
pistes for cruising, and the challenging blacks of La Sache and Silene to test the best of
skiers. And we can
quickly get into the very heart of Tignes skiing from here. We
always get good feedback from our guests about Tignes, particularly as
it caters so well for all abilities and needs.
The ski area offers a huge range of pistes including the huge glacier on La Grande Motte and lots of easy off-piste.
We always enjoy the north facing off-piste areas of Col des Ves,
Tommeuse and the wonderful valley alongside the Double M run down from
La Grande Motte. |
